Jujutsu Kaisen: From Yuji’s First Punch to the Madness of Shibuya

The anime industry is hosting a wide array of content and presenting some of the most amazing animations in history.  Jujutsu Kaisen comes up on that list and competes with the “Big Three” –the anime fans know what I am talking about.

Well, for onboarding anime fans and curious readers, The Big Three stands for One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach. Jujutsu Kaisen is a mix of all three, with many elements used as inspiration from them.

Read on to find everything you need to know about Jujutsu Kaisen from the epic battles to the devastating moments – and don’t worry, I’ve given a spoiler warning where it is due.

The Premise: Curses, Sorcerers, and a Pink-Haired Prodigy

The Jujutsu Kaisen world is where all the humans’ negative emotions create monstrous curses – greed, envy, sadness, and more. The Jujutsu Sorcerers fight to protect humanity from them. But is everything they do for the goodwill of humanity?

With Yuji Itadori’s entrance, an abnormally strong high schooler who, in a reckless act and desperation, swallows a cursed object—one of Sukuna’s fingers (He is the King of Curses, sealed away, but his demonic abilities live in his body parts – he is veryyyyy powerful though).

Instead of dying from swallowing the finger, he becomes Sukuna’s vessel (Yikes!), forcing him to join Jujutsu High under the mentorship of Satoru Gojo, the strongest sorcerer alive (Such a pretty boy).

From there, it’s a wild ride of deadly missions, mind-blowing fights, and heart-shattering losses – I just can’t with the last season, crying even now but let’s not turn this into my rant blog.

You have to watch the series; it is bound to make a fan out of you too. Do check if you have seamless internet, so your entertainment with this does not lag – and really, no lags, you can’t miss a single detail here.

The Characters Making JJK Legendary

Yuji Itadori:

Itadori is the main lead of the show. He is an unusually strong high school student with a passion for what he does. He is an honest boy with a vibrant persona with a tendency to act foolish or he might just be so. But, he has a surprising intuition and would take decisions well.

The problem? He has to co-exist with the king of curses, Sakuna after eating his sacred fingers. His journey? To master these new powers and not let Sakuna take over.

Satoru Gojo

He is the second most popular in the show. He takes on Itadori to be his apprentice. With his blindfolded self and (ohhh the eyes, but you gotta see for yourself) the Limitless and Six Eyes Power, his sorcery knows no bounds.

But with him being trapped in a prison built just for him and the world in chaos, what will happen?

Tbh, I’m scared for all sorcerers.

Megumi Fushiguro

He is a brooding genius, Itadoris friend, and he yields a higher power known as the Ten Shadows Technique – someone who caught the eye of Sakuna even.

Nobara Kugisaki

The stylish, fearless, and deadly with her Straw Doll Technique. She is grouped with Megumi and Itadori under Gojo. They have great battles and fun times.

Nanami Kento

The most interesting and charismatic character and an ex-salaryman-turned-sorcerer, he is calm, calculated, and, well, hot. But his fate may just be in a pinch after the Shibuya Incident – still breaking out hearts.

Sakuna

Well, he is the King of Curses, and the JJK world is built on curses and sorcery. He lives rent-free inside Itadori since he ingested his Sacred Fingers. Is he the Ultimate Villain or worse?

All The Arcs/Seasons So Far (Spoiler Warning!)

  • Cursed Womb Arc – Yuji eats Sukuna’s finger and enters Jujutsu High under Gojo’s support. (Season 1)
  • Kyoto Goodwill Event – A school battle that turns deadly when real threats appear. (Season 2)
  • Shibuya Incident – JJK’s darkest arc yet — Gojo is sealed, major deaths shake the story, and villains take over. (Season 2) – still can’t get over it!
  • Culling Game – A brutal battle royale pushing Yuji, Megumi, and others to their limits. (To be released –Season 3)

Who Should Watch Jujutsu Kaisen?

This anime would appeal to a wide range of audiences – but mainly, of course, those who love anime. It is a great beginner-level watch for those into shonen anime.

The series is great to watch if you’re a fan of series like Bleach, Naruto, Demon Slayer, and such.

We can’t say it has a full horror appeal but it does have some supernatural elements.

The themes are dark and grotesque and include graphic violence. This would also appeal to people who love fantasy, monster hunts, magic, and power battles. But there is a fun mix of humor and weird jokes.

Read on to find what you’ll have to cover before the new season comes out.

And with Studio MAPPA working on the Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc release in 2025, 2026 is a realistic time of release for JJK season 3.

Anime Industry News Going About

MAPPA Studios and their work conditions being harsh went under scrutiny, with animators going on protests. So, there is no telling what is brewing for JJK at the moment. But, MAPPA has committed to working through it with the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) and bringing us the best quality animations.

Japan’s Fair Trade Commission (FTC) is also looking for violations of the Antimonopoly Act, Subcontracting Act, and Freelance Act with all animation studios. The report will be published sometime around 2025.

The results and findings will likely create better work environments that will give the creators space to work better and bring us the best animation on screen –and that is what matters.

Last Note: This is Just the Beginning

Jujutsu Kaisen is a masterclass in storytelling, blending horror, action, and humor into something that you won’t forget –because I can’t either. The stakes keep rising and this makes us both terrified and excited.

Will Gojo be able to escape? Can Yuji control the King of Curses? And what part is your favorite? Let us discuss this in the comments!
